Sugrue South Downs Winemaker Lunch | Friday 20 March | 12.30 for 1pm | Spectator Boardroom
Dermot Sugrue, the bonkers Irish genius, is considered by many to be the finest ever producer of English wine, both still and sparkling. Having made his mark at the likes of Nyetimber and Wiston Estate, Dermot, along with his wife Ana, now make remarkable wines under the Sugrue South Downs label in East Sussex. To mark the 20th anniversary of the planting at Storrington Priory, Dermot will join us to introduce several vintages of his stunning signature cuvée ‘The Trouble With Dreams’ along with some of his inimitable still wines to break up the bubbles.
Hosted by Spectator drinks editor Jonathan Ray, our events are relaxed and informal (there is nothing so stuffy as a dress code) giving guests the chance to enjoy fine drinks and conversation with fellow Spectator readers. Some come in couples, but many come on their own and firm friendships have been forged here over the Cru Classé claret. Do join us!
