Sir Alexander McCall Smith, the beloved author of the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books, will be the guest of honour at a Spectator Crime Writers’ Dinner hosted in our boardroom by Spectator contributor Alec Marsh. Sir Alexander is best known as the author of more than 25 novels set in Botswana, but he is also the writer of the popular 44 Scotland Street and Sunday Philosophy Club series  among others.

Over a fine four-course dinner, accompanied by wines from Château Léoube, Sir Alexander will discuss his life in writing and his forthcoming books, The Big Cats Dance Party (Little, Brown), the 27th in his hit Mma Precious Ramotswe series, and The Prime of Bertie Pollock (Polygon), the latest in his 44 Scotland Street series based in Edinburgh. Copies of both novels are included in the ticket price and Sir Alexander will sign them for you, if you wish.

Dinners in our boardroom are convivial and fun and limited to 18 people around the boardroom table. There is wheelchair access.
