Explore SW1 with Mark Mason | A Spectator Guided Walk | Thursday 16 April | 3 – 5pm

Following the sell-out success of our City and West End walks, Mark Mason will return to the capital’s streets to explore SW1 and its environs. Join us to discover how Westminster Abbey honoured Ronnie Barker, how a snowfall saved John Major’s life, and what’s unusual about the zero on 10 Downing Street’s front door.

We’ll hear why Elizabeth II took a magnet to dress-fittings, and why Margaret Thatcher always checked the top of door frames. Taking a few steps into neighbouring postcodes, we’ll also learn how Embankment Tube helped a widow cope with her grief, and how the Trafalgar Square fountains influenced the £20 note.

And as it’s a Spectator walk, we will of course finish in a pub.
