An Espionage Study Day, Friday 25 September, 10am – 4pm, London
Come along to the Spectator offices for a full inside briefing on spies, spying and Cold War espionage, followed by a buffet lunch and a minibus tour of London’s spy sites.
Your expert guide is Dr Boris Volodarsky of the London School of Economics. Now a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, Boris was an officer in the GRU Spetsnaz (Soviet military intelligence) before travelling west as communism collapsed and taking up a second career as a historian specialising in espionage and secret intelligence history. Dr Volodarsky, whose books include The KGB Poison Factory: from Lenin to Litvinenko, has expert inside knowledge of Vladimir Putin’s lethal use of poisons and of Stalin’s spies and spycraft during the Cold War.
This is a unique and unmissable event for anyone curious about the true role played behind the headlines by intelligence and espionage in the making of the modern world.
