A tasting with Tony Laithwaite CBE, Monday 7 September, 6.30-8pm, Spectator garden
Tony Laithwaite CBE is a titan of the wine trade, the force behind Direct Wines, The Sunday Times Wine Club and Laithwaites Wine, the number one home-delivery wine merchant in the UK and the country’s largest family-owned business.
Without Tony we wouldn’t be drinking so much wine in Britain and certainly not of such good quality. Almost single-handedly he transformed our drinking habits.
Despite his success and the CBE he has earned, Tony Laithwaite remains self-deprecatingly humble and is delightful company with a great story to tell.
Come and join him and drinks editor, Jonathan Ray, in the garden of the Spectator on Monday 7 September as they chat about this and that, sharing with readers some of Tony’s favourite wines including a 2005 and 2015 from his own estate Château La Clarière.
