A ‘Taste the Case’ wine lunch of ‘Defrocked’ clarets | Friday 21 November | 12.30 for 1pm | Spectator Boardroom

This year, alongside our annual FromVineyardsDirect offer of declassified or so-called ‘defrocked’ clarets we are delighted to invite readers to the Spectator boardroom to taste the wines with drinks editor Jonathan Ray. These wines are the excess production or the wines made from younger vines that don’t suit the estates’ grands vins and over a fine four-course lunch we will muse over which of the great Bordeaux estates we think the following are from: 2023 Pessac-Léognan, 2023 Saint-Estèphe, 2022 Saint-Émilion, 2023 Margaux, 2022 Pauillac, 2022 Pomerol and a 2016 Sauternes.
