A Map of the Brexit Isles
A Map of the Brexit Isles
The Spectator is pleased to present ‘A Map of the Brexit Isles’, a new limited-edition fine art print by J. G. Fox.
Created to mark the tenth anniversary of the Brexit referendum, A Map of the Brexit Isles imagines Britain as two neighbouring archipelagos: one Leave, one Remain. In the tradition of the great pictorial maps of the early twentieth century, every corner is packed with detail. The ‘Remain’ islands are home to Wind Farms, Refugee Welcome Centres, EU Grant Distribution Centres and the BBC; the ‘Leave’ islands boast cricket grounds, maypoles, a Commemorative Mug Factory, and the Museum of Imperial Glory. Familiar political arguments are recast as geography, and stereotypes become landmarks.
There are only 100 available of this limited-edition print. They are signed and numbered by the artist – something designed to be collected and kept.
An A1 size (59.4 x 84.1 cm / 23.4 x 33.1 inches) Giclée print on Etching Paper, signed and numbered by the artist.
About the artist
J. G. Fox is a London-based artist, and regular contributor to The Spectator. His work is already held in notable private collections, including that of King Charles III.
As Andrew Graham-Dixon has written:
“The world of JG Fox is haunted by George Cruikshank, William Hogarth and the screaming mad, chillingly sane James Gillray… It’s Gin Lane with a tipple on Beer Street but always more trouble round the corner.”
