Winemaker’s Lunch with Domaine Jones
Join us in the Spectator boardroom on Thursday 9 November for the next in this year’s series of Spectator Winemaker Lunches with the ebullient Katie Jones, the Leicestershire-born owner/winemaker of Domaine Jones in the Languedoc, south-west France.
Having worked in wine sales for a leading wine co-operative in Fitou for many years, Katie set up Domaine Jones in 2009 and now makes exquisite wines from local varieties, produced in limited quantities. The Domaine Jones wines are produced exclusively from hand-picked grapes grown on very old vines on the steep mountain slopes, resulting in low yields and very high quality.
During a delicious four-course lunch provided by Forman & Field, Katie will introduce a number of her sought-after wines including Domaine Jones Macabeu, Domaine Jones Grenache Gris, Domaine Jones Grenache Noir, Domaine Jones Fitou and – as a rare treat – Domaine Jones La Perle Syrah.
Katie is excellent company and as well as discussing her wines will chat to readers about how her journey
from Ashby-de-la-Zouche to Maury in the Languedoc and her battles with vine-stripping wild boar, and
vandals ruined her entire 2012 vintage.
This promises to be a hugely popular lunch, so do book promptly.
