Winemaker’s lunch with Joseph Phelps Vineyards - TBC September, 12:30 p.m.
Hurrah, we’re back! As a prelude to the long-awaited return of our Spectator Winemaker Lunches in the boardroom at Old Queen Street, we are delighted to invite readers to join us at Boisdale of Belgravia, 15 Eccleston Street, London SW1, on Friday 16 July for a very special lunch with Clarice Turner, president of Joseph Phelps Vineyards.
Founded in 1973 and still family-owned and run, Joseph Phelps Vineyards is one of the great names of California, with vineyards and wineries in both the Napa Valley and the western Sonoma Coast. JPV’s wines are of remarkable purity and precision and the company’s icon wine, the mighty Insignia, is beloved of connoisseurs and collectors alike, with the 2002 vintage hailed as Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator.
During a delicious four-course lunch in Boisdale’s atmospheric (and Covid-secure) Jacobite Room, Clarice will introduce the brand new 2018 Joseph Phelps Freestone Chardonnay and 2018 Joseph Phelps Freestone Pinot Noir, plus we will have a sneak preview of the soon-to-be-released 2018 Joseph Phelps Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The icing on the cake, though, will be a pre-release taste of the 2018 Joseph Phelps Insignia and a rare opportunity to taste a mature Insignia, ten years on.
We are fortunate indeed that Clarice will be joining us in person from California and will be bringing such outstanding wines. We expect the lunch — an intimate affair held in association with Private Cellar.
