Drinks editor Jonathan Ray has yet more treats for wine-loving subscribers this summer. South Africa is our destination, via Old Queen Street, as we explore the wines of three of the country’s greatest estates. No need to be shy – these friendly events are aimed at the enthusiastic amateur.  

Vergelegen Wine Estate (founded 1700) is one of the great names of South Africa, famed both for the beauty of its estate and the quality of its wines. Luke O’Cuinneagain has been head winemaker for three years, taking Vergelegen’s wines to even greater heights, and we’re delighted that he’s joining us with real treats, namely 2024 Florence Rosé, 2024 Wild Winds Sauvignon Blanc, 2023 Reserve Chardonnay, 2023 Estate White, 2022 Reserve Merlot, 2022 Reserve Cabernet, 2022 Estate Red and the sumptuous icon wine, 2022 V. Whether you’re new to this fabled estate or know it well, it promises to be a wonderful evening.
